Pro Specie Rara – Swiss foundation for historico-cultural and genetical diversity

Pro Specie Rara is driving force in saving the genetical and historico-cultural diversity of plants and livestock for future generations. The foundation works together with a network of voluntary supervisors and breeders throughout Switzerland.

Pro Specie Rara was created 1982 as a swiss non-profit orientated foundation to protect endangered species from dying out. Today the organisation is engaged in the preservation and utilisation of 1400 crops and garden plants, 500 sorts of berries, 1900 types of fruits, 800 varieties of ornamental plants and 32 races of livestock.
